4 Ways To Have Fun As An Adult

I was listening to a Mel Robin's podcast episode about improving mental health and she discussed having fun; and as simple and basic as that is, I was genuinely trying to think of ways to have fun as an adult. Like genuine fun that fills our hearts and souls, not that drinking shenanigans but things that I will wake up the next day and be like yeah I still feel amazing! I discussed the concept with my therapist and we decided to create a list of things that I can do for actual FUN. Now I will say, searching pinterest and google looking for appealing things to do for myself and also that is not "having a bath" or "try cold water instead of warm shower water" or "go for a walk" was very hard. Honestly it was very depressing because I was like.. is this it? This what I have to look forward to? So in that journey of discovering for myself ideas for fun, I will share 10 fun things to do as an adult to improve mental health and have fun!




Self-care is essential for maintaining good mental and physical health. It is the act of taking care of oneself, which can help to reduce stress, boost mood, and promote overall well-being. However, self-care can be different for everyone, and it is important to find what works best for you. In this blog post, we will explore some self-care ideas that you can try out.

  1. Watch stand up comedy.

Two options for this one; watch it online or on your tv, OR to actually go to a comedy show. If you are able, going to a comedy show is SO fun. Personally, I love stand up comedy so this one is always an amazing thing to do if it is at home or if I can go out.


2. Dance.

This may sound silly but there is a few ways to go about this. 1) Learning a new tiktok dance; you don't have to post it or record it but it can be fun! 2) Following a youtube video to learn a new dance routine. Throw it on the tv or youtube from your phone and follow along! They even have step by step dances. 3) Attend a dance class! Things like pole dancing or hip hop classes are available around the city and they have classes for beginners or those who have never done it before!


3. Make a vision board!

This is both an awesome activity for personal growth and self improvement but also creativity! There are some amazing youtube videos on how to make vision boards and you can also do it on paper OR on your phone/computer. This is also super fun to do with your partner or your friends, but personally I love to just do it alone!


4. Take a class!

There are so many different classes that go on around the city such as dance classes like pole dancing at Unleashed studio, or there is always so many classes, lectures, and drop in groups at the Halifax Public Library where there is cooking classes, knitting, crochet, and other crafting!


In conclusion, self-care is essential for maintaining good physical and mental health. It is important to find what works best for you and to make self-care a priority in your life. Try out these self-care ideas to improve your well-being and live a happier, healthier life.
