What makes Pride Beauty Lounge different than other salons and spas?
Pride Beauty Lounge is an inclusive day spa which means we have put a priority on ensuring we are being socially responsible, and including everybody. Many local spas and salons don't service all genders and have gendered service menus which include people and are discriminatory. Pride Beauty Lounge does not have gendered services or menus and we service all genders on all services. We have inclusive business practices that can be further explored here: https://www.pridebeautylounge.com/inclusive-practices

Is Pride Beauty Lounge only for the LGBTQ2+ community?

Absolutely not. We identify as a queer space because we are 100% queer-owned and operated, have inclusive practices, and want to emphasize our commitment to being a safe space for the LGBTQ2+ community. Pride Beauty Lounge is an inclusive environment, we welcome everybody.

Why is it important to be "inclusive"?
Inclusivity is the practice of providing equal access to opportunities and resources for people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalized, such as those having physical or mental disabilities or belonging to other minority groups.

What is a "safe space"? What makes Pride Beauty Lounge a safe space?
The term safe space generally means “a place or environment in which a person or category of people can feel confident that they will not be exposed to discrimination, criticism, harassment or any other emotional or physical harm.” (Oxford Dictionary).
Pride Beauty Lounge identifies as a safe space because of our employee training program, policies and procedures, and company values and mission. Pride is owned and operated by a certified mental health counselor, Tori Sullivan who spent years in the mental health and community services industry. In 2018, Tori created a non-profit organizing community safe-space gatherings for the promotion of self-care through art and music. Tori created an employee training program alongside other community advocates and mental health professionals to ensure all staff of Pride Beauty Lounge are aware of our social responsibilities of being in an inclusive and safe space. All staff is trained in mental health awareness, disability awareness, culture, race, and diversity training, gender and sexuality awareness, as well as learning about the social inequalities within the beauty industry locally, nationally, and globally and much more. This training program will be available for other businesses to utilize eventually as apart of Pride Beauty Lounge's mission to more inclusive beauty industry.
